Lu Huayu, a Distinguished Professor of Nanjing University, Dean of the College of Geography and Marine Science, and also Vice President of the Chinese Geographical Society, Deputy Director of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Geographical Sciences in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and member of the Disciplinary Review Group of Geography of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He is mainly engaged in research on monsoon climate evolution, loess-desert-fluvial geomorphic processes, and Pleistocene paleontological behavior and environment. He has published more than 300 academic papers with over 16,000 citations and an H-index of 62. He was awarded the National Outstanding Young Scientist Program (2003), the China Young Scientist Award (2007), the Cheung Kong Scholar Distinguished Professor Program (2009), the National Young Scientist Program (2012), the National Natural Science Foundation of China Innovative Research Group Program (2020), and the Second Prize of National Natural Science (2010, ranked 3rd).
