Expert Introduction:
Professor Peter Clift received his BSc and MSc from Oxford University and his Ph.D. from Edinburgh University. He is currently the Charles T. McCord Professor of Petroleum Geology at Louisiana State University, USA, where he focuses on the stratigraphic development of continental margins, the history of the Asian monsoon and its influence on Asian orogeny and the origin of continental crust and the recycling of continental material through subduction zones. Professor Peter Clift is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America, was Chief Scientist on IODP 355, a Fellow of the Hansel Institute for Advanced Studies, Germany, a Distinguished Lecturer at ECORD, a Distinguished Lecturer at USAC-IODP, a recipient of the Murchison Prize of the Geological Society of London and the Worcester College Award for Excellence, University of Oxford. He has held visiting professorships at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Nanjing Normal University, Yunnan University, and the University of Hong Kong. To date, Professor Clift has published over 260 papers in international journals such as Nature, PNAS, Nature Geoscience, Nature Communications, Earth-Science Review, Geology, and Earth and Planetary Science Letters. He has published more than 260 papers in high-level international journals and his papers have been cited more than 12,700 times.
